Datacolor Spyder 5 Capture PRO
SpyderLENSCAL provides a fast, reliable method of measuring the focus performance on your camera and lens combinations. It allows photographers to obtain razor-sharp focusing or check to see that their lenses are working at their peak performance. This device is compact, lightweight and durable, with integrated level and tri-pod mount.
Photographers have enjoyed the benefit of autofocus for 25 years now, but many still struggle with its accuracy and repeatability. Auto-focus is a great convenience, especially in fast shooting situations. But typically the first step in reviewing files from a shoot is tossing all the images where the focus isn’t quite right. This can be motion blur or other issues, but one of the most frequent causes is auto-focus error. We tend to blame this on the camera choosing the wrong object, or the wrong point on the object as the focal point, but there is another possibility, one we hate to consider, given the price of the hi-end lenses we use: the auto-focus of our lens may simply be off. When you take a simple shot of a flat object perpendicular to the camera, and it still isn’t quite as sharp as it should be, you have to accept that this may be the cause.
Many newer DSLR cameras now offer a method to correct this issue: they allow you to store auto-focus correction data for several of your most important lenses. This feature is likely to become more common, and appear in other camera types.
SpyderLENSCAL was designed to aid in correcting the auto-focus on your camera and lens combinations and storing them in your camera’s custom settings.
SpyderCUBE – Control color by balancing light
Shooting in RAW mode gives you creative freedom, but processing a RAW file is often a long, trial-and-error operation. SpyderCUBE accelerates RAW processing in providing references to set the white balance, exposure, black level and brightness right from the start. Simply take one reference shot with SpyderCUBE under the same light condition, adjust, save as a preset and apply to the entire series.
SpyderCUBE is made of ABS Cycoloy, a hybrid resin that is fade proof, extremely durable and shock resistant. In addition, colors are through-pigmented for durability, and are scientifically formulated to provide optimal color values, including an 18% grey, which defines a new standard for spectral neutrality to provide accurate color balance under any light source.
SpyderCHECKR – The smarter color reference and gray card
Start your color control at the capture stage with the new SpyderCHECKR. This precision tool allows photographers to color calibrate their cameras, perform precision in-camera white balance and record known-color samples. The only color reference system that supports Hasselblad’s Phocus software, SpyderCHECKR allows photographers to obtain consistent, accurate color within a standard RAW processing workflow. The sturdy, eco-friendly design has 48 spectrally engineered color patches and easy to use calibration software.
Every camera make, model, and individual chip records color in different ways. These camera sensors do not see the same as our eyes and the camera manufacturers manipulate the data so you get a realistic image. You need to provide a color reference for your camera to assure you get the correct profile.
Color control and consistency requires a color reference tool to account for these variations. Adding color management at the capture stage of your digital workflow assures consistency and accuracy from day to day as well as from camera to camera. A custom camera profile enables you to apply a ‘translation’ that compensates for the characteristics of the light source and sensors to give a more accurate color reproduction in your images. The SpyderCHECKR makes it easy for you to create this custom profile to assure you get correct color right from the start!
Spyder4ELITE – Show the world your true colors
Spyder4ELITE features a patented, full-spectrum 7-color sensor that can accurately characterize a variety of wide gamut and normal displays. Spyder4ELITE software lets you use the same sensor to calibrate your computer display, projector, TV (with purchase of the Spyder4TV HD cross-grade), iPad, iPhone and Android device (with the free SpyderGALLERY App). No other calibrator has this capability. The fourth-generation sensor uses double-shielded filters for longer life and better performance. Accuracy is improved by an average of 26%.
Photographers, designers and imaging professionals can work confidently on a properly color-calibrated screen and can assert greater control over the color fidelity of their digital process. Images can be reliably assessed and adjusted on a properly calibrated display, enabling true-to-life reproduction of image files.
Spyder4ELITE automates and simplifies display calibration. Install the software, attach the color sensor to the USB port and step through the wizard. The sensor measures a series of colors on your screen and creates a ICC profile that brings your display to a reference state. At the end, you can compare how the images look before and after calibration.
The rugged aluminum case provides sure protection for all the Spyder products with custom die cut urethane foam inserts.
